Shelving and Racking – Whats the difference?

We are often asked what is the difference between Racking and Shelving. Racking is designed primarily to hold pallets using a pair of beams. Shelving has a shelf for products to sit on and is generally on a smaller scale. Most Racking can be modified with drop over panels that turn the two beams into a shelf or various attachments can be added for the storage of specialist components such as Tyres and Garments. Racking tends to be more heavy duty and therefore more expensive as the components are manufactured from heavier guage steel.
